Perched delicately on the sandy dunes and peering over the lush foliage, the studio minimally impacts the landscape, preserving the immediacy of its surroundings. Occupying a mere 387 square feet (36sqm), it delivers comfort and efficient living with a sustainable ecological footprint. This minimalistic approach extends to the interior, featuring walls of textured oriented strand board and muted brown-toned timber, enabling the building to harmoniously blend with its environment.
Originally conceptualized as a viewfinder akin to a camera, the Dolphin Sands Studios materializes this vision by serving as an observational space that frames and accentuates the breathtaking views of its remarkable setting. Within the cabin, a cozy double bed overlooks the Great Oyster Bay through a window on a focal wall, offering a picturesque view of the Freycinet Peninsula’s mountain ranges.
Apart from the scenic bedroom, the studio comprises a snug seating area by the window and a contemporary kitchenette within a shared living space. Additionally, a compact yet luxurious ensuite with a shower is included. Glass doors open up to more ocean views, leading to a spacious deck with an outdoor shower and seating area, enhancing the feeling of expansiveness, openness, and connection to the natural surroundings.
