Nestled just an hour’s drive from Sydney, Australia, lies a unique luxury escape known as LilyPad. This exquisite floating villa, conceived by Australian designer and boat enthusiast Chuck Anderson, is a fully solar-powered tiny home that rests serenely on the picturesque waters of Palm Beach.
LilyPad draws inspiration from the beach houses dotting the coastline and the desire for accommodation that offers a distinct separation from the outside world. The villa incorporates aged materials that complement its natural surroundings. The timber-clad, two-story structure is accessed via a private self-drive tender or seaplane, leading guests to a spacious outdoor terrace equipped with a barbecue area, a ten-seat dining set, and a lounge space perfect for entertaining or relaxing while enjoying stunning views.

The villa’s timber decking elegantly bridges the exterior and interior spaces, merging the modern tiny villa aesthetic with the classic designs of family retreats in the area. Although it can be relocated, Anderson designed LilyPad to be anchored, providing visitors the unique experience of being on the water while enjoying stability.
One of the villa’s most striking features is the 3.2-meter (10.5-foot) high bi-folding glass doors. These doors open wide to showcase the breathtaking views of the shoreline, creating a picturesque frame around the landscape. When fully opened, they transform the living area into an inviting space that seamlessly connects with nature.

Inside, the large lounge area features a comfortable leather couch and a flat-screen TV. The timber flooring and abundance of natural light create a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The lounge flows into a modern kitchen equipped with a spacious window that offers additional views of the surrounding beauty.
The elevated master loft bedroom is designed for two adults, offering an open view of the living space below. The villa also includes a luxurious bathroom featuring a designer shower, basin, and toilet. The interior design strikes a balance between contemporary elegance and comfort, with white walls and furniture complemented by black steel detailing on railings. This careful approach ensures that the design remains visually appealing without overwhelming the senses.

LilyPad is available for events or overnight stays, making it an ideal choice for couples celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. Accommodation packages start from AUD $1,854 (approximately EUR 1,703) per night for two. These packages include a private self-drive tender for trips to the mainland, champagne, a tasting plate to savor local flavors, dinner, breakfast, full access to the onboard wine cellar, 24-hour concierge service, and use of the onboard stand-up paddleboard and fishing gear for immediate adventures just outside the LilyPad terrace.
This floating villa offers more than just luxury accommodation; it represents a new direction in tiny living, emphasizing sustainability and natural power. As Chuck Anderson articulates, “We have created the perfect space to both rest from the world in ultimate comfort or host friends and colleagues in a way like never before.”
