Hong Kong, one of the most densely populated cities in the world, is known for its compact high-rise apartments. In this urban jungle, there is a strong demand for designers who can transform these small, often claustrophobic spaces into modern, livable homes. Nestled in the heart of Wan Chai, a bustling commercial district, Littlemore Designs has renovated a micro-apartment into a cozy and spacious retreat amidst the city’s vibrancy.

Appropriately named the ‘Bachelor Pad,’ this 250-square-foot apartment was designed for a single occupant, offering a comfortable recharge space that remains deeply connected to the pulse of the city. Littlemore Designs has skillfully maximized the small space, using a combination of dark and light wood tones on the walls and floor to create depth and a sense of simplicity and cleanliness. The removal of partitions between rooms has opened up the space, creating a studio-style layout that feels much more expansive than its modest floor area suggests.

In place of the partitions, a single half-height wall with a glass window now separates the different living areas, allowing for a seamless flow between the bedroom, living room, and kitchen. The bedroom, elevated on a platform just a few steps above the rest of the apartment, features a comfortable single bed and a small desk for work. This area opens into the living room, which incorporates clever design elements such as integrated full-height storage cabinets and additional storage hidden beneath the steps and floor.

Though long and narrow, the kitchen is thoughtfully designed to be both functional and efficient, with well-proportioned appliances and modern cabinetry. At the end of the countertop, a small breakfast nook provides a cozy spot for one person to enjoy a meal or coffee at the start of the day. The bathroom, in keeping with the rest of the apartment, is simple yet functional, featuring a compact layout that includes a shower, toilet, sink, and vanity.
The ‘Bachelor Pad’ by Littlemore Designs is an elegant, modern open-plan apartment that makes exceptional use of limited space. This renovation has transformed a cramped city apartment into a comfortable and stylish micro-home in the heart of Hong Kong.
