The architectural and design firm SA Lab, based in St. Petersburg, has revamped the traditional Nordic-style barbecue house into an all-season grill house named Flexse. This compact module, covering 328 sq ft (30.5 sqm), is versatile and can serve various purposes, from a guest house to a small gallery space.
SA Lab describes Flexse as a modern interpretation of a classic Scandinavian grill house, representing the first prototype of a compact module. They highlight its dual functionality, providing a cozy cooking and relaxation environment during winter or cold weather, while offering a pleasant open terrace for summer enjoyment.

Crafted entirely from recyclable materials, Flexse boasts an exterior adorned with recycled timber panels in a gentle oak hue. Its unique white and black oval design, coupled with the warm timber color, resembles a sauna, blending harmoniously with the surroundings while standing out as a focal point.
Access to the module is through double glass doors that can be opened during warmer seasons, allowing diners to enjoy meals amidst the sounds of nature. At the rear, a large porthole window provides a cozy view of the wintry white landscape during colder months.
Inside, Flexse features an open fire grill and a charming dining area.

Flexse is customizable and can be built on-site, enabling customers to tailor its construction based on their specific needs. Whether for personal or business use, it can serve as a tiny home, guest cabin, sauna, pool house, or studio/workspace, among other possibilities. The module can be placed on various foundations, such as concrete slabs or metal piers, allowing for installation in both urban centers and remote locations. Customers have the freedom to personalize both the interior and exterior of the module and may opt for rooftop solar panels to go off-grid for a break from the bustling city life.
